Many people buy wooden plantation shutters for their elegant and stylish design and good looks. They can create an amazing atmosphere and finish off any room to perfection. However, what many people don't know is that in many cases, as well as looking good, shutters create secure house. Although this is partly psychological many people believe that they do deter people from looking into the home.
The design of the shutters means that in the day time the slats can be partly closed so that nobody can see into your home, yet at the same time letting in lots of light.
At night-time, when people are more nervous about who might be looking in, a lit room can be a magnet for thieves who are looking out for houses to break into. While we cannot see out into the dark garden or street, anybody can look in without being detected.
Closing the shutters at night means that people cannot see your valuable laptop or camera lying around so they are less likely to break in. They also cannot see if you are alone in your home at night.
Of course, they do not physically deter burglars from entering your home, but this added level of protection surely means that burglars are less likely to want to break in in the first place.
